A Great Start

OneFests first session was held last night. We were treated to six performances. it was a delight to see such a combination of existing and new work, experienced and novice actors, comedy and drama. We laughed, cried, groaned (at Zeb’s jokes) and had a wonderful night. As out esteemed adjucator put it, ‘We can rest assured the future of Hobart theatre is in good hands.’

Session two starts at 2pm this afternoon; featuring the following performances
Dig For The Diggers
The Bag Lady
The Green Hill
The Coat

Session three kicks off at 7.30pm this evening; featuring the following performances
Glory Be
Sputnik Rising
The New World Order
At The Orgy

and followed by supper and the awards presentation.

We’ll see you there for two great sessions of one act plays.

Only one more sleep

How fast has that come around? Only ONE more sllep until OneFest 2014 kicks off, yeah!

Remember, we have the plays listed here on the website and you can get the detailed program for only a gold coin donation at The Playhouse on the night.

See you there tomorrow!

4 days… and counting

Right, so it’s Monday and in four days OneFest 2014 will be here. How exciting!

After months of preparation, countless rehearsals across all 14 plays, a few tech runs and possibly some pre show nerves we’re nearing curtain up.

Pre-season ticket sales have exceeded last year’s so get in and book through centertainment. We’re sure there’ll be tickets available at the door, but, we’re trying to plug the festival as much as possible.

See you in a few days!

Program has been released

We are pleased to announce that this years program has been released.

We’ve got a very full festival this year with 14 plays over three sessions.

Here’s the program for this years OneFest

Detailed programs will be available at the theatre on the day for a gold coin donation.

Each session will be followed by a short adjudication.

All participants and audience members are invited to join us for supper at The Playhouse following Saturday’s evening session where prizes will be awarded.

Entries are now closed

Just stating the obvious… entries for this year’s OneFest have now closed.

Julie, our production manager, has let me know we have 14 plays this year. There’s a great range of plays with varying lengths and broad subject matter. we’re looking forward to reading them all and coming up with the final program.

Keep an eye on this space over the next couple of weeks!

Going, going… nearly gone

Don’t forget the deadline for entries is tomorrow – Friday 25th July.

Well, actually, if you send something and it arrives before we wake up on Saturday then we’ll still accept it – How’s that?

We look forward to reading all the submissions and puttting the program together. Watch this space for the program announcement in a couple of weeks…

Only one week until entries close

Don’t forget to get your entries in for this year’s OneFest.

We have a good number of very interesting entries, but, there are still places. make sure you don’t miss out on a great fun festival by getting in touch soon… oh, and getting your entries in by next Friday.

Entries are now open

OneFest Production Manager, Julie Raphael announced that “One Fest entries have opened and will be accepted until Friday, 25 July 2014.”

“OneFest will have three sessions starting with the Friday evening, the second as a Saturday matinee and, the third and final session on the Saturday evening”, Julie said.

OneFest aims to provide an eclectic mix of plays under 30 minutes.  Anyone above the age of 16 can enter OneFest – it’s a great opportunity for emerging actors and directors to get experience on and off stage, and experienced actors/directors enjoy being able to display their skills in a short-work format.

OneFest 2014 is go!

Once again, Hobart Rep and Old Nick are partnering to bring you OneFest – Hobart’s terrific season of One-Act plays presented over one wonderful weekend in August.

You can enjoy the best of Tasmania’s one-act plays, some absolutlely fabulous talent (experienced and emerging) all presented in one of Tasmania’s most beautiful venues – The Playhouse Theatre!

The dates for OneFest are Friday 22 August to Saturday, 23 August 2014. We will be calling for submissions very soon so watch this space!
