Now THAT is what I call a one act play festival!

On Saturday nearly 40 writers, directors and performers rolled into the Playhouse Theatre to strut their stuff and present their works across two entertainment-packed sessions for two enthusiastic audiences.

The OneFest team- both backstage and front of house- put in some long hours and I’m so very grateful to them for their dedication and efforts. I will give them a shout-out via the OneFest page shortly.

I’d just like to highlight those enthusiast patrons again: thank you. Thank you for supporting local community theatre from across the state, and thank you for your ongoing support of OneFest. We are a small event in the grand program of theatre events in Hobart each calendar year, but we sure do got spirit – and you are all a big part of this.

We are pleased to announce our adjudicator for 2015

OneFest is delighted to announce that Don Gay will be our adjudicator in 2015!

As an actor he has performed in over 200 productions,  most  recently in Mass Appeal, Cauliflower Homicide, The Vicar Of Dibley and The Fantasticks. He also performs on a regular basis in No Mercy at the Penitentiary Chapel Historic Site for Live History Hobart.

Don is Artistic Director of Mainstage Theatre Company and  his most recent productions as Director were Seussical – The Musical, The Play of Daniel at St David’s Cathedral, Heaven And Earth and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. With fourteen outstanding scripts we have compacted them into two action packed sessions on Saturday 5 September.

We have comedy, drama, romance, suspense and naughty words to make your Saturday special so come along and see what all the fuss is about.

Entries for OneFest 2015 have now closed.

It’s time for us to read them all and sort them into sessions; then get down to the real work of putting on a festival.

Eleventh Hour Alert! OneFest submissions close TOMORROW

Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 10:19PM

The OneFest Team are eagerly anticipating next week: when we get to sit down and pour over this year’s cache of prime submissions  and start formulating our program across the 3 sessions of the festival.

But first! We need to make sure we’ve got them all! Have YOU sent yours in on time? Or are you thinking of furiously smashing it out tonight and posting it in the morning with your fingers crossed? Well, if you’re in the latter category then you clearly haven’t sent anything via Australia Post lately…

Never fear! If your submission is on its way but you think it won’t make it to us by tomorrow, drop me a line at secretary@oldnick.org.au

Happy submitting, OneFesters!

Submissions are NOW OPEN for OneFest 2015

Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 12:37PM

We’re excited to announce that submissions are now open for OneFest 2015.

OneFest Directors Vik Croall and Carolyn Whamond have today announced that “One Fest entries have opened and will be accepted until Friday 31 July 2015.”

“OneFest will have three sessions starting with the Friday evening, the second as a Saturday matinee and, the third and final session on the Saturday evening”, they said.

OneFest aims to provide an eclectic mix of plays under 30 minutes.  Anyone above the age of 16 can enter OneFest – it’s a great opportunity for emerging actors and directors to get experience on and off stage, and experienced actors/directors enjoy being able to display their skills in a short-work format.
